David Lynn surprises everyone at the U.S. PGA Championship
The U.S PGA Championship 2012 finally comes to an end. The best in the world went head to head for the championship at the prestigious Kiawah Island Golf Resort, the Ocean Course. The four-day event started on the 9th of August and ended on the
12th of August.
All the players tried their best to impress the spectators at the Championship, some of them succeeded while other failed.
There were some favorites in the tournament and some were thought not to play well but surprised everyone. The list of players who surprised the crowds as well as the other players includes David Lynn.
David Lynn had a bad start to the tournament but later on, he improved. On the first day, he carded a bogey and a double bogey and two birdies.
The second round was pretty similar to the first one. He had another bad day, in which he carded just two bogeys.
Half way through the tournament his score was three-over par. The English professional golfer turned his game around from that point and gave a very magnificent performance on the coming two days.
On the front nine of the third round, he scored four magnificent birdies. On the back nine, he scored two birdies and two bogeys. These made his score four-under par for the day and his total score became one-under par.
The last round was similar to the third one. He scored five birdies and just one bogey. These made again four-under par for the day and his total score rose to five-under par.
Lynn ended the tournament on the number 2 spot and was eight strokes behind the leader of the tournament, Rory McIlroy.
Lynn was very happy to surprise everyone and actually perform this well. In an interview, he said, “I've never been exempt to play in anything in America, so that's the reason why I've never been over here. This is a good start”.
“To come and perform the way I have this week in a major is still very special and it's a great achievement. It's not sunk in properly yet, to be honest,” he added.
