David McKeon secures Men’s 400m freestyle title: Day four – 2011 World University Games
Australia’s David McKeon put up a great splash on day four of the 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China, on Wednesday, August 17. The session of the competition organised the Men’s 400m freestyle final.
In the corresponding meet, McKeon hit the wall in 3 minutes and 48.78 seconds to snare the gold medal on the podium. The splash moved him to 21st place in the current rankings of competitive swimming. Meanwhile, Michael Klueh of United States
secured the silver medal by posting a matchless time of 3 minutes and 48.84 seconds. Klueh won two gold medals in the Men’s 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle finals at the 2007 Summer Universiade games, in Bangkok.
Moreover, Klueh secured two gold medals in the 800m and 4x200m freestyle events at the 2011 Summer Universiade games, in Shenzhen. Sho Uchida of Japan grabbed the bronze medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 3 minutes and 51.93 seconds.
Uchida earlier picked silver medal in the 4x200m freestyle meet at the 2010 Pan Pacific Games, in Irvine.
Sergii Frolov of Ukraine was placed fourth in a time of 3 minutes and 52.45 seconds, while David Mosko of United States of America finished fifth in a time of 3 minutes and 53.89 seconds. Matthew Stanley of New Zealand settled sixth in a time of 3 minutes
and 54.34 seconds. In the corresponding race, Wallace Eggleton of Australia finished seventh with a time of 3 minutes and 54.73 seconds, whereas, Sho Sotodate of Japan wound up eighth in 3 minutes and 54.97 seconds.
Earlier, Laszlo Cseh of Hungary took home the golden crown in the Men’s 200m IM meet with a victorious time of 1 minute and 57.86 seconds. In the meantime, Yuya Horihata of Japan was placed second on the podium by posting a stunning time of 1 minute and
59.74 seconds, while Yuma Kosaka snared the bronze title after he touched the finishing wall and ended his swim with an impressive time of 1 minute and 59.81 seconds.
