David Mckeon wins Men’s 200m freestyle meet - Australian World Championship Time Trials
Day two of the Australian World Championship Time Trials got-off to a strong start with the stunning performance of teenager, David Mckeon of New South Wales, in the Men’s 200m freestyle category at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Adelaide, on June
30, 2011.
Mckeon completed his distance with a winning time of 1 minute and 48.74 seconds, while Ned Mckendry of Queensland secured the second spot after touching the finishing wall in a time of 1 minute and 49.01 seconds. Robert Hurley of Sopac rounded out the top
three finishers in 1 minute and 49.58 seconds.

Miami’s swimmer, Patrick Murphy, finished his swim in the seventh place with a time of 1 minute and 50.80 seconds, while Kristopher Taylor of Western Australia earned the eighth spot in a time of 1 minute and 51.28 seconds. Mitchell Dixon of New South Wales
wound up ninth with a time of 1 minute and 51.52 seconds. Hunter’s swimmer, Matthew Roberts was placed tenth after he posted a time of 1 minute and 53.50 seconds.
After the race, Mckeon was ecstatic with his individual performance in the meet and he now looks determined to continue the same form in futuristic competitions.
While commenting on the performance of teenage swimmers in the meet, Swimming Australia head coach, Leigh Nugent said, “It’s been an interesting couple of sessions really. Last night in the 100m freestyle events there was some pretty sharp swimming and to
see Marieke Guehrer go 54.2 seconds was a good performance.”
The coach further added that he has been inspired by the spirited performance of Kyle Richardson. With the World Championships to commence in China next month, the meet is an important step in judging the final team which would compete in Shanghai.
