Yorkshire’s South African import for the 2012 Friends Life T20 campaign, David Miller, on Sunday hailed his teammates for their cooperation, which helped him settle at Headingley in a very short period of time.
"It can be difficult going from one dressing room to another so quickly, and at times I doubt myself," said the 23-year-old Natal-born batsman, who played for Durham County Cricket Club in last year’s Flt20 tournament.
"But the boys have made it so much easier for me to settle in. I really must give a hands up to them and the management, who have been great to me too," he added further.
The hard-hitting left-arm middle order batsman scored 212 runs for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782 from 13 innings last season, including a half century. However, the Proteas batsman considerably enhanced his statistics during his spell at Yorkshire, having scored two half centuries
(74 not out against Durham at Chester-le-Street and 54 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 at Leeds) in six innings he has played for the county so far this season.
The left-hander, who plays for his home franchise, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, said that the unbeaten 74 against Durham at Chester-le-Street played key role in boosting his morale.
"My motto is to keep being a team man," said Yorkshire’s specialist Twenty20 overseas signing. "I’ve got to do whatever I can for the team and hopefully contribute. Getting that score (74 not out at Durham) was a massive help for me. It settled my nerves,"
he added further.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Miller-c76318 started his domestic career in 2008, before making an international debut in May 2010. To date, he has played Twenty20 cricket for six different teams, including South Africa.
The left-armer, who plays for Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 in the Indian Premier League, has so far played 16 ODIs and 8 T20 Internationals for South Africa.
In his 58 Twenty20 games so far, Miller has scored 1179 runs at an average of 35.72 and a strike rate of almost 130. The tally also includes six half centuries.
In his 35 first-class innings, Miller has scored 1466 runs at an average of 28.74, including two centuries and six half centuries.
