David Moyes hopes to collect another win against Tottenham
Everton manager David Moyes has said his team need to continue their winning streak in the Premier League against Tottenham on Saturday, 23 October.
Moyes' team got their first league win of the season against Birmingham on 2 October, and followed it up by defeating Liverpool in a Merseyside derby with especially high stakes on 17 October.
Moyes, who has been in charge at Everton since 2002 and been widely praised for his work at the club, said that his team is in dire need of consistency in their league campaign.
"You need to get on runs in this league. We probably played better in other games than we did against Liverpool last week and didn't win. Let's just hope we're on that run that wins us games now."
The Scot added that his team have the potential to be top of the Premier League.
"We think we're a side who are good enough to be at the top end of the league. We didn't show that in the opening games of the season. We were all a bit surprised by it after the way we'd finished the season before."
Bale and van der Vaart could cause problems
On Saturday, Everton face a Tottenham side that conceded four goals against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday, 20 October.
Despite losing the game, Harry Redknapp's team fought back resiliently in the second half as Gareth Bale claimed a hat-trick.
Ahead of the sides' encounter, Moyes expressed his admiration for Rafael van der Vaart and Bale, who have been Tottenham's best players during the start of the season.
"Van der Vaart's been a really good signing. I think he's a player that a lot of people knew about but never thought he would be available. Bale's an outstanding player, an outstanding talent. He looks as if he carries himself well professionally, which
is always good to see. Let's just hope he's not fit."
