Everton manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes has issued a warning to his squad member, who are looking to participate in the 2012 Olympics, as he insists no one will get extra time to recover in the summers.
Moyes recently revealed that a host of Everton’s first team players had been handed invitations to participate in the 2012 Olympics.
However, with the tournament ending on the 11th of August and the Premier league set to start only a couple of days after that, the manager has insisted that he can’t afford to give any of his players extra days to recover.
When talking about his team and their potential participation in the upcoming Olympics, Moyes is quoted to have said: "Quite a lot of our players have had letters of invitation"
"Am I worried? I am because there’s a lot of them got all sorts of things going on over the summer so I am a bit worried about the whole thing.
"We accept international tournaments. What we’re willing to do to those boys is give them a bit of extra time off because the players definitely need a holiday.
"But I think the players going to the Olympics will have to consider their own holiday time and it couldn’t be eaten into the club’s time."
Despite not wanting his players to participate in the tournament, since it would risk them getting injured and potentially not being fit for the start of the season, the manager believes it would be impossible to ask them not to participate in the Olympics.
Not every player is going to be able to make it to the World Cup in 2014 and hence many believe this could be their last opportunity to represent their countries.
Nonetheless, the manager’s concerns are also very valid at this point. Should a player or two make it all the way to the finals, they would be in no position to play for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 immediately after and this would cause the team to use replacements.
However, with the tournament taking place in the summers, teams are more than likely to bring in new players who could help fill in the void, but should a player pick up an injury, teams should look for compensations from the nations that they represent.
