David Murphy’s decisive RBI helps Texas Rangers defeat Oakland Athletics 7-6 - MLB Update

Texas Rangers’ left-fielder, David Murphy had a tremendous day with the bat as he hit a final RBI including a single run and went 1-for-3 with an average of .250 in the Rangers’ 7-6 victory over the Oakland Athletics at O.co Coliseum, Oakland on August 14.
Rangers got off to a quick start as they smashed three runs in first inning to take a 3-0 lead. Ian Kinsler put the first run on score-board while Josh Hamilton advanced to second base on a wild pitch of Athletics’ starter, Rich Harden. The second run for
Rangers was taken by Hamilton when Mike Napoli walked and Nelson Cruz occupied second base.
Michael Young added third run for Rangers when Mitch Moreland hit a sacrifice fly to centre-field and Cruz moved to third base to end the first inning. The batters were outclassed by the pitchers during second and third inning as they failed to hit shots.
At the bottom of second inning, Athletics’ right-fielder David DeJesus walked but Scott Sizemore and Josh Willingham both struck-out looking.
Rangers led off with 4-0 at the top of fourth inning when Yorvit Torrealba scored a single run, Young walked, Murphy moved to third base and Kinsler occupied second base. In fifth inning, Rangers posted couple of runs while Athletics also opened their scoring
account by contributing two runs at the bottom of fifth inning to reduce their lead 6-2.
Napoli and Murphy both two consecutive runs at the top of fifth inning when Kinsler was saved to reach at first base on an error of DeJesus. On the other side, Brandon Allen and Cliff Pennington both scored two collective runs when Hideki Matsui reached
at first base on the error of Ranger’ second baseman Kinsler.
During sixth inning, Athletics’ batters smashed four runs to tie the game 6-6. Sizemore scored a single run on drive of Kurt Suzuki towards right-field. Allen doubled to deep left-field and Suzuki put second run on Athletics’ score-card. The third run was
taken by Allen when Jemile Weeks drove a single-run shot towards left-field.
Pennington contributed a fourth run when Matsui singled off left-field. Matt Harrison surrendered six hits, six runs and four earned runs in his five innings pitches. In the ninth inning, Murphy singled to centre-field and Carlos Gentry added a leading run
to end the game 7-6.
However, Rangers swept Athletics 3-0 in the three-game series at Oakland.
