David Nalbandian destroys Lukas Rosol in 1st round – Rakuten Open 2011
David Nalbandian, Argentine world No.64, outlasted Lukas Rosol, Czech world No.77, as the two clashed out to play the 1st round match of the 2011 Rakuten Open. With the blue hard court at Ariake Coliseum, Tokyo, Japan
cleaned up, the Argentine finished off the match in style, ousting his challenger 6-1, 6-1, in just 49 minutes and walked off with the win.
Taking their positions and firing up with the 1st rounder, Nalbandian took off with the opening game of the match, serving out and winning, 1-0. Switching the serve to his challenger, Rosol served next, however, could
not make the most of his serve and lost as the Argentine world No.64 broke the Czech early in the set, 2-0.
Following with a win on his serve, Nalbandian led the match 3-0 before Rosol broke free and took out his first win of the set, 1-3. Nevertheless this win was the last for the Czech as his counterpart tore him apart serving out
the next game and leading the scoreboard 4-1.
With two game left for the Argentine to fill his bag with the first win, the 29-year-old went ballistic as he broke the lower ranked rival in game 6 and served out game 7 to win the first set of the match, 6-1.
With Nalbandian now in the lead, Rosol tried to make a comeback, however, could not win more that what he did in the previous set. Breaking the Czech in the first game, the Argentine went on winning back-to-back games as he serve-broke-served
the next 3 games to lead the set 4-0.
Unmatched by the Argentine, Rosol won his 2nd game of the match and the 1st of set 2 and switched the serve, 1-4. However, this was the last he could win in the whole event. Serving out game 6, the 29-year-0ld
mumbled through the 7th game breaking the world No.77 and winning the set with the same score, 6-1.
Outclasses the so called clay court player went off short on the hard fast track against the former world No.3, Nalbandian and made his way back to the dressing room. Nevertheless a great one man show from the astounding Argentine
as he now sits in the 2nd stage of the ATP Tour 500 event.
Nalbandian now moves on ahead to play Ivan Dodig in the second round.
