David Nalbandian is proud of representing Argentina in Olympics – Tennis News
World number 39, David Nalbandian, is eager to represent his native country, Argentina, in the upcoming London Olympics at All England Lawn Tennis Club. The 30-year-old controversial professional has always been sunk in some sort
of issues with the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) and has been banned, fined and stripped of a title this season for some unwanted acts like water-spilt on the official of the Australian Open and then a unintentional kick to the advertisement hoardings
that in-turn injured the line referee beside the sidelines.
It has been a very tough season for the Argentine who has still managed to fight it out at all times. He might seem a bit unprofessional with his attitude but the actions of the some referees and officials has forced them to do
so. However, he still believes that he has got something that will earn him the gold medal at London Olympics and he is willing to put his body on the line for that accomplishment.
Former world number three has always been seen in action battling it out at any surface he plays. There are hardly any losses for the Argentine that comes in straight sets; three-setters and five-setters are a routine for the Argentine
born. Now, he has an opportunity to have a shot at the Olympics gold medal and surprise everyone by bringing home the honour that only few professionals attain in their lifetime.
Nalbandian stated in his official fan blog, “Though I didn't get to Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in my best physical shape the memories I have of the championships are excellent. I won two matches and had the wonderful experience
of staying at the Olympic Village, together with thousands of other athletes. My goal is obviously to win a medal for my country. As for the surface, I feel comfortable playing on grass and I'll try to use that. I'm a great admirer and lover of my country.
So every chance I get to play Davis Cup or represent it otherwise is very important for me. I represent Argentina with great motivation.”
The Argentine is training in Buenos Aires these days and leaves for London on July 24.
