David Ngog happy to face more competition at Liverpool
Liverpool striker David Ngog has said he would welcome the arrival of a new striker at the club.
Roy Hodgson's team are 13th in the league with ten games played. The manager's wish to strengthen the team in the January transfer window has been granted by John Henry, co-owner of the club since 15 October this year.
Ngog, who has improved after failing to impress during his first two seasons at the club, said he would welcome the competition that the arrival of another striker would bring to the club.
"When you are a professional you know that it's normal that the coach will want to make the team stronger," he told Liverpool's official website. "I'm here now and ready to fight. Of course I want to play and be on the pitch every week, and of course I will
fight for that."
Liverpool's top scorer this season
This season, Ngog has stepped up as striker Fernando Torres has suffered from a lack of form. The Frenchman is the club's top scorer with seven goals, five of which have come from six European appearances.
"[Being the club's top scorer is] good for me  but for now the most important thing is to get the team in good shape and to try to win games. Then if I score goals, it's better of course. I feel more confident after the few goals I've scored, and I feel
more comfortable in the team this season. But I try to improve, always."
More than anything else, the 21-year-old has spent time in the gym to improve his body strength and help him cope with the physical nature of the Premier League.
"I know English football is a strength game where you have to fight. If I can be stronger, that will improve my game. I'm spending time in the gym. I try to work on everything but, yes, I am working on this."
Liverpool host Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday, 4 November.
