David Ortiz talks openly about former Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine – MLB Update
David Ortiz, the star Boston Red Sox designated hitter, is currently busy raising money for children who need medical care, also speaking openly about former team’s manager Bobby Valentine. Ortiz and Valentine do not enjoy good past memories over an alleged set of comments in the media at the end of last year.
Valentine, who earlier in the recent past, stated in the media that Ortiz almost quit on Red Sox with a poor all season long performance, however Ortiz denied then Red Sox’s manager Valentine’s these comments.
Though he felt disgraced but still he did not take any action and remained with the Red Sox for another season. On the other hand, now since Ortiz’s celebrity golf fund-raiser game ended, many reporters started asking questions from him.
Ortiz answered with confidence at the Resort and Spa, “It seems like everybody but us knew what Bobby was going to turn out into, When you hear people talking about him right now ‘Oh, I knew it was going to be like that.’ I guess that was one of those mistakes, not having the right people around. But the good thing is they pretty much tried to correct that from the very beginning, getting John (Farrell), a new manager, and making things better.”
In the meanwhile, the Red Sox management recently has also brought new manager John Farrell as Bobby Valentine was fired with a poor 69-93 record.
On the other hand, coming onto Ortiz’s celebrity golf game, along with this past controversy, the overall this gathering of celebrities was a success as Ortiz’s charity raised good money for their fine cause.
Among other top Major League players, former Red Sox center fielder Johnny Damon was also present as he also spoke to the media and appreciated David Ortiz’s initiative. “It’s a special thing for players to be able to stay with a team for that long. It’s amazing, I wish it could’ve happened with me.” Damon said.
Ortiz’s this annual charity event now in its fifth year and doing well. Helping children, who need medical care, perhaps a very appreciable motive by the experienced Major League professional, is now reaching more and more children giving them with best medical facilities.
