David Perron returns to St. Louis Blues line-up after 10 month recovery from Concussion -NHL Update
St. Louis Blues got additional offensive depth on their line-up after 23-year-old left winger, David Perron, made a comeback on the roster after being sidelined for the past 10 months due to a concussion and the post-concussion syndrome he was feeling.
Now according to medical staff, the young player is back in full health and is ready to play, but there has not been an actual announcement made by the team on when he well be officially participating with the team in a matchup.
"It's good to be back in St. Louis, seeing all the guys before practice", Perron said Monday after rejoining the team. "I'm looking forward to coming every day now and progressing".
Sustaining a severe concussion in November of last year during the 2010-2011 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season, Perron was limited to playing only 10 games with St. Louis but still managed to record seven points (5 goals, 2 assists) along with
a plus-minus rating of 7. It was during a matchup against San Jose Sharks that Perron was hit by Joe Thornton, which ultimately led to his concussion.
For St. Louis Blues head coach, Davis Payne, it is certainly some good news for a team that has not shown much performance during the preseason, but might be getting a boost for the upcoming regular season.
"Great to see him back", Blues coach Davis Payne said. "He's still got a ways to go, but he's one of us, so to get him back and see a smile on his face, it's a positive step".
Before joining his team on the ice officially, Perron must undergo a series of compulsory protocols set by the NHL and the NHL Players Association (NHLPA) to ensure his full recovery and to minimise chances of reoccurring problems.
"It's an exciting day for myself, but not probably nearly as it is to be David Perron to be back here where he should be, at the rink with his teammates," Blues GM, Doug Armstrong, said.
The recovery procedure consists of the player going through a baseline test followed by an evaluation by training staff than properly beginning to exercise and train on the ice.
Confident to make it back on the ice as quick as possible, David Perron is giving it his all for a major comeback in the major league.
