David Pescud and Brent Lawson grab lead in A1 and A2 division of 2012 Audi Winter Series
After putting up an excellent sailing show on the Sydney Harbour waters, David Pescud and Brent Lawson have grabbed lead in the A1 and A2 divisions of the 2012 Audi Winter Series. Both sailors displayed impressive sailing skills and earned some higher podiums
in the first three races of the regatta to lead their respective division by six and seven points.
The 2012 Audi Winter Series regatta is being organised and hosted by The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. The weather conditions on the Sydney waters were quite ideal before the start of the third race. The forecast was full of icy and blustery west-south-westerly
wind which was blowing up to 29 knots.
The temperature on the race course was measured 29 degrees. The first day of the regatta saw some lower breeze blowing from 15 to 20 knots but it increased to 29 on third race which helped the leading sailors finished accordingly to hold on to their top
podium positions.
The CYCA’s Principal Race Officer, Denis Thompson, said that the breeze varied between 260 degrees and 230-220 and it was a great day out.
Pescud began his regatta run with a second podium finish in the opening race. However, he breezed into the top podium spot in the second to clinch the lead. Race 3 did not finish according to his hopes and he hit the third place. On the other hand, Lawson
finished on the leading podium with two second finishes along with a third.
