David Pipe reveals Junior is likely to run in the Grand National
David Pipe’s trained horse, Junior, is expected to run in the Grand National Trial at Haydock in order to prepare for the Grand National at Aintree, held on Saturday, April 14, 2012. He has been given a starting price of 16 to 1 for the big event.
Junior’s performances in chase events have been very good, as he has won three out of the seven he took part in. Other than that, he also has three third place finishes, which makes him one of the favourites at Haydock.
The nine-year-old horse’s trainer is hopeful of a good show in the next month’s chase, as it will be a good build up for the Grand National. However, he will get a tough challenge from the rest of the pack as well, as there are some strong contenders
lined up for the upcoming events.
There are chances that Alan King’s trained horse, West End Rocker, might also take part in the Aintree event. He has a pretty decent record, and has won four chase races in his career up till now. The news of his participation in the race is not yet
confirmed, but he is likely to be there.
Willie Mullins, a veteran trainer, is also interested in the chase next month. He will be looking forward to run at least one of his horses in the event.
12-year-old horse, Mon Mome, is also likely to take part in the race. The veteran horse has entered 32 chase events in his career. He has managed to win six, whereas finished runner up on seven occasions.
Other than that, Mon Mome also took a couple of third place finishes, and has the ability to pop up a surprise. With so many trainers attracted towards the event, the race at Haydock will be quite an exciting one.
This has pleased Dickon White, managing director at Haydock. He stated, “These are really excellent entries for the Betfred Grand National Trial. There are some serious horses here.”
White further went onto say, “What particularly delights us is the interest in the race from trainers in Ireland.  It all adds up to what is set to be a superb day's racing.”
