Manchester City’s assistant manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Platt has praised Mario Balotelli and his ability to stay calm in the dying stages of the game against Tottenham Hotspur.
Going into the game, City knew that they had to pick up all three points, since it would ensure their lead at the top of the Premier League table. On the other hand, Tottenham were looking to pick up the win, since if they won their game and Manchester United
lost, the Spurs could take over the second spot in the league table.
The match proved to be a thrilling encounter with both the sides scoring two goals each in the second half.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937 came on in the second half in the game and looked to mix things up for City up front.
Balotelli found himself in the Spurs box in the last few seconds of injury time and he was quickly taken out by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ledley-King-c21859. As a result, the referee pointed straight to the spot.
With so much being on the line, Balotelli decided to step up and take the penalty. The striker then calmly sent http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953 the wrong way and sent his effort crashing into the back for the net.
That shot saw City take home all three points from the game and helped the team maintain their three point lead at the top of the table.
Platt, who seems to be delighted with the maturity and calmness that Balotelli showed and is quoted to have said: “He is not afraid to take penalties, he is willing to miss. He is a very, very cool penalty taker and I was confident he would put it away and
not let the occasion get to him.”
The assistant manager also went on to talk about the incident, which saw Balotelli stomp on Scott Parker’s head, as he went on to add: “To be honest I have not seen the incident. I certainly didn’t think there was anything in it watching live. If there was
something, different angles on TV can show different things.”
It is still unclear whether Balotelli’s actions towards Parker were intentional or not, but what can be said assuredly is that the striker is finally looking to tap his potential.
