David Plummer secures Men’s 100m backstroke gold: Day three – Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational
David Plummer of Minnetonka Swim secured gold medal of the Men’s 100m backstroke on closing day of the 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational in Nebraska on Sunday, June 10.
The 26-year-old Plummer faced strong battle from his following swimmer and reached the finishing end for gold medal of the discipline.
With his unmatchable efforts, Plummer remained slightly ahead of his opponents and paved his way towards the finishing end for gold medal with the timing of 54.61 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Matthew Grevers of Tucson Ford Deal, who was 0.03 seconds apart and made his way to the finishing blockade with the timing of 54.64 seconds for silver medal.
The second position holder was chased by Mitchell Friedemann of University of Arizona, who stayed nearly 1.60 seconds apart and hit the finishing end for bronze medal by producing a time of 56.20 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Peter Stacy of University of Arizona, who stayed full body length away from his foregoing finisher and sprinted his way to the wall as fourth best finisher with an effort of 57.13 seconds.
The 21-year-old Stacy was chased by Paul Le of Missouri State Academy, who stayed 0.18 seconds apart and settled on the finishing blockade as fifth position holder by submitting a time of 57.31 seconds.
The 19-year-old Le was followed by Casey Fleming of De Anza Cupertin, who was only 0.32 seconds behind and made his way to the finishing end as sixth position holder by reporting a time of 57.63 seconds.
Similarly, the 19-year-old Fleming stayed nearly 0.80 seconds faster from his following swimmer, Joshua Hafkin of Una RMSC-PV, who managed to secure seventh spot of the race by reporting a time of 58.40 seconds.
Last spot of the 100m event was secured by Masayuki Kishida of Tucson Ford Deal, who was only 0.14 seconds apart and tapped the wall for eighth position with an effort of 58.54 seconds.
The session concluded after the completion of all scheduled events in Men and Women’s corner while the position holders received medals and accolades for their remarkable sprints after the session.
