David Price: I am not in any rush to become world champion – Boxing News
After defeating Sam Sexton via TKO in the fourth round on Saturday night at the Aintree racecourse, unbeaten British fighter David Price is now hopeful of becoming the world heavyweight champion. However, Price wants to play slow and steady and does not
want to rush. In his recent interview, the Olympic bronze medallist said that he is not in any rush and he will develop along the way to finally reach his desired destination.
“I am not in any rush, but if I keep developing, it could be within 18 months,” said Price. He added, “Rushing is not my style. To get to world level and lose, then what would be the point? Where do you go then, back to British level with your stock lowered.
You’ve got to give him 10 out of 10 for that performance. That was the best jab I have seen in a British ring since Lennox Lewis. I’m more convinced than ever that he will be heavyweight champion of the world. And he will dominate boxing for a long time if
he keeps developing the way he is.”
Price currently is out of options, therefore he wants to be on the Amir Khan undercard, since Haye and Chisora are going head to head soon and Tyson Fury is overlooking him. He added that he would love to be Amir Khan's undercard considering that he will
have an opponent worth fighting.
After claiming the vacant BBBC British heavyweight title by defeating Sexton, Price is confident that he can be the world champion in the near future. However, he believes that he still has to go a long way to be able to face the Klitschko brothers. Price
wants to celebrate his victory with his friends and family before moving to his training facility finally. For now, the unbeaten British pugilist finds himself out of options and he believes going to America for a fight might be a possibility, since his domestic
fighters are busy with their own events. Unfortunately, even Tyson Fury is avoiding Price, so the Brit fighter might end up in the USA.
