David Price keen on deal if Tampa Bay Rays make offer
It’s understandable when one of the pitchers in the rotation gets a long term contract from a club but when the first slot starter is not the man being contacted,  a lot of eyebrows are raised in Major League Baseball.
If Tampa Bay Rays want one thing clear, it’s their willingness to let go of major players if the asking price is too high. For Carl Crawford, the situation is no different and for David Price it won’t be either.
The Rays signed on Wade Davis on a two-year contract recently and there was no skeptical thought on the horizon behind that decision. The 25-year old has two years of experience and he has a career Earning Runs average of 4.06.
With 12 wins to 10 losses, the signing may be called a fruitful stake by many peers in the Rays’ organization.
With his services on offer for a long term deal, David Price, could be next. When he was asked whether he would pen an extension deal or not, he had a positive answer.
"Yeah, everybody here knows that I feel very comfortable here with the Rays", Price said. "And I feel like I fit in very well with this organization and how they do stuff. If it's something we're able to get done, it's definitely something I'd like to do".
The left-hander was also asked if he saw himself pitching for the club on a long term route, he smiled and answered in the affirmative again.
"I would love to", Price said. "I do look at it that way. Hopefully there's something we can do to make that happen. But if not, I completely understand. This is a business first".
Price whipped up 19 wins and six losses for his club in 2010, with an Earning Runs average of 2.72. That is a performance par that needs rewarding. His first game of 2011 has irked a lot of supporters though. His Earning Runs average was 5.14 against the
Baltimore Orioles. He gave up four runs on five hits in a 1–5 loss to the opposition.
