David Price reckons Klitschkos can only be beaten at their own game plan – Boxing news
David Price, who is more commonly known as Pricey, has insisted the only way to beat the current WBA (Super), IBF, WBO Super, IBO and Ring Magazine Champion, Wladimir Klitschko, or the current World Boxing Council World Heavyweight Champion, Vitali
Klitschko, is with their own game plan.
Price said, “I think the only person who can beat a Klitschko is someone who can beat them at their own game.”
Wladimir Klitschko is the longest reigning Heavyweight Champion in history for the IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight title whereas his elder brother Vitali Klitschko holds the best knockout-to-fight ratio of any champion in heavyweight boxing history.
Therefore, the 28-year-old undefeated British prospect, Price, who holds a perfect record of winning all of his 11 records, with 9 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, admitted in front of the media that he is inspired by the Klitschko brothers,
as he stated he is working towards the blueprint laid by the Klitschkos for the domination of the heavyweight division.
Meanwhile, Price, who will take on John McDermott for the British and Commonwealth Heavyweight final title eliminator on November 19, 2011 at the Liverpool Olympia, Merseyside, United Kingdom, also claimed he has a bit more variation than the Klitschko
brothers.
“The Klitschkos, as boxers, are everything I aspire to be,” said Price. We are working towards that style but I think I’ve got a bit more variation than they have. But if I can do what they do so well – and bring my own things into it – then that will
be perfect but it’s easier said than done.”
In the end, Price shared his thoughts on his recently spent time in the US where he trained with one of the most well-known boxing trainers in the world, Freddie Roach, who is the current of eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and the unified
WBA Super and IBF Light Welterweight Champion Amir Khan.
Price remarked it was a wonderful experience for him to work with a proven world-class trainer.
“It was just a bit of time away to work on a few different things with some different trainers, proven world class trainers,” he added.
