David Price reckons Tom Dallas could destroy his ambitions – Boxing news
The 27-year-old David Price reckons that his younger opponent Tom Dallas has the capabilities to turn the tables on him.
Price, who has been a stable-mate of Dallas, knows Dallas’ way of fighting and said he can take a lot of punishment.
David Price was previously set to fight John McDermott before McDermott pulled himself out due to a throat infection just one week before the fight. His promoter Frank Maloney then had to look all around and finally he found the Essex pugilist Tom Dallas
for the British Heavyweight title eliminator showdown, which will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Olympia.
David ‘Pricey’ Price told the media that his new heavyweight opponent Dallas, who is being considered as an underdog, is not an easy one to deal with. He said he has had a few sparring sessions with him and therefore he knows his potential.
Though he admitted that the 26-year-old Dallas has not fought any of the boxing’s best as of yet, he said same is the case with him too.
While speaking on his inclusion, he remarked, “Tom is an upright, tall boxer-puncer and is a dangerous opponent. He’s tough and from what I’ve experienced in sparring, he can definitely take a punch. But I would say he is nothing out of the ordinary, he
is conventional and does the basics quite well.”
He added, “He hasn’t really fought anyone particularly great yet, but then the same goes for me.”
The Liverpool’s boxer, Price, also stated Dallas is stepping in the ring with nothing to lose and that could be something dangerous. Price believes that Dallas has more punching power than John McDermott. He also claimed people will see many punches being
exchanged.
“That he has nothing to lose is the dangerous aspect of this fight. Potentially this is a tougher fight than McDermott, it will certainly be less physical but more dangerous from a punching point of view,” Price commented.
Let’s see whether Price can see off his dangerous opponent in the ring on Saturday or not.
