David Price reveals Audley Harrison helped him win the Olympic bronze medal – Boxing News
David Price has unarguably established himself as the best British heavyweight today. He is huge and his skills are well known. He has remained unbeaten in thirteen fights, achieving 11 victories via knockout. He is being compared to the Klitschko brothers,
and a common belief is that he will soon get the heavyweight titles home.
Price, who is proud of his achievements, is generous enough to give due credits to his mates. In an interview recently, Price spoke of his bronze Olympic medal, which he won during the Beijing Olympics. Price revealed that his rival Audley Harrison was actually
the person who motivated him to win the show.
“I will never forget Audley calling me before the Beijing Olympics and giving me a boost which was a nice thing to do,” said Price. “I was 16 years-old when he won the Olympics, but I was never on the squad with him and the first time I met him was two years
ago in Los Angeles and we got on well.”
Price further revealed that he used to follow AUdley Harrison’s career because he wanted to be like him.
“I used to follow his career because I was the natural successor when he turned professional and the coaches at the England set-up hoped he could go on to do what he had. I always used to keep a close eye on his career and wanted him to do well, and I was
as disappointed as anyone when he started under-performing. It is strictly business now and I am not going to let him stand in my way because I want bigger and better things,” added Price.
Price is scheduled to fight Harrison for October 13. He has plans of fighting the Klitschko brothers one day, but nothing is for sure yet. According to Price, he wants to take his time to establish himself in the division before going for the title.
His recent victories have been applauded even by the Klitschko brothers, making one of the very few fighters the Ukrainian champions actually admire.
