David Price sends Tom Dallas packing with one right handed punch – Boxing news
David ‘Pricey’ Price has knocked out his altered heavyweight opponent Tom Dallas in the British Heavyweight title eliminator, which was held on June 11, 2011 at the Olympia.
Price, who already was a heavy favourite for the bout, landed a dazzling knockout punch with his right hand at 2 minutes and 45 seconds of the second round of the fight.
Price, who was previously scheduled against John McDermott, has now extended his unbeaten record to 11-0 including 9 by way of a knockout. Meanwhile for Dallas, who stepped in on just a four-day notice, it was a nightmare as he lost the first fight of his
career with a knockout.
A delighted Price afterwards told the media that it is always a game over whenever someone lands a punch like that with so much power. Though he admitted he was not expecting the fight to end so early, he said it has given him a lot of confidence and he
is very happy, as he has come to know he still has the power to land a knockout punch.
While speaking on his inclusion, he remarked, “I was expecting it to go four or five rounds but when you land a punch like that it's game over. I thought it would last longer but it was a cracking shot. It is a big confidence booster to know that I've got
the knockout power in the bank.”
The 27-year-old Liverpool’s pugilist, Price, also admired his trainer in the meanwhile. He stated he had missed an early opportunity but his trainer guided him to stay focused. He said he told him not to worry, as the opportunities will come again.
He commented, “I missed with a big right hand earlier on in the fight but my trainer Franny (Smith) just said for me to take my time because the opportunities will present themselves. It was the speed of the punch that took him out. I didn't throw the shot
to try and knock him out but it just happened that way.”
