David Price tags boxing as a noble art – Boxing News
British heavyweight fight sensation David Price believes boxing is a noble art and that trash-talking is there because people get excited for the fights. However, Price asserts that he is not one who easily gets excited with his fights. He tagged himself
as a gentleman saying there is always room for gentlemanly conduct in the sport.
“That's what boxing is about. It's the noble art. For all the trash talking involved in boxing - which there is a place for, because people get excited about it, but it's not for me - there's always room for gentlemanly conduct as well,” said Price.
According to Price, he is just himself and he hardly cares about what others have to say about him. However, the British and Commonwealth fighter asserted that he is one fighter whom fans can relate to.
“I just be myself and be normal and it comes across well to the fans as someone they can relate to,” he added.
Price is now scheduled to face Matt Skelton at Aintree on Friday. He is coming off a win over Audley Harrison, Tom Dallas, John McDermott and Sam Sexton. However, his choice of going head to head against Skelton has attracted much criticism, as many believe
Price is much better and should opt for better opponents.
“Matt Skelton's a fighter a lot of fighters would prefer to avoid because he's a tough opponent who can make guys look bad,” said Price while talking about him selecting Skelton as his opponent.
With his recent significant wins, Price has entered the club of the top heavyweights today in boxing. He has defeated some of the best in the division and is on his way to score some more points before he finally gets his hands on a heavyweight title.
For now, Price believes Skelton is an important opponent for him to defeat, while others think the fight is a mismatch. Considering the height advantage Price has over Skelton, it is undoubtedly a fight already set for the British Olympian to win.
However, you can always expect upsets in boxing, only if Skelton is up to one.
