David Rudisha wins 800m event at the Meeting Stanislas-Nancy - Athletics news
David Lekuta Rudisha marked another impressive finish in the 800m run by clocking a time of one minute and 43.46 seconds, while appearing at the Meeting Stanislas-Nancy. The Nancy meet is regarded as the second leg of the French Pro Athlete Tour 2011.
Rudisha boasts of claiming four of the ten fastest times for the distance. The 22-year old middle distance runner from Kenya is also a world record holder in the 800m run for clocking one minute and 41.01 seconds.
The Kenyan athlete, who was suffering from a severe foot injury, had bleak chances of emerging in any of the meet that soon and during his absence, there had been a number of incidents which marked the dominance of athletes like Abubaker Kaki. The Sudanese runner, while displaying his potential, marked a staggering one minute, and 44.80 seconds for lowering the world lead.
This was the time when Rudisha’s foot injury was lingering and it was less likely for him to re-emerge with a faster time. However, while depicting his resilience, the world leader reclaimed his authority over the distance at the Raymond Petit Stadium.
Talking about the way he went on with resuming his running and got rid of injury fears, Rudisha said, “After my injury, I was anxious to start my summer season. I wanted to check if I was okay, and today I ran a good race and a good time.”
His coach, who had also developed fears for the performance of his runner, looked rather satisfied with his present effort and expected that the recent win will break all the barriers for him, which will ultimately help the Kenyan in reclaiming his confidence.
Expressing the future races he was planning to appear at, Rudisha said, “My next races will be Lausanne and the Kenyan trials for the World Championships. The goal is to get my first major title and I hope it will happen in Daegu.”
After displaying this marvellous performance, Rudisha can rely upon his skills and form for taking part in bigger competitions. Marred by injury and a hiatus, he must have been looking forward for a boosting run up and with his current clocked performance, he must be confident for emerging in bigger contests.
