David Silva, the Spanish Winger, is all set to join Manchester City from Valencia after the 2010 FIFA World Cup

Spain qualified for the quarter finals when Silva’s former Valencia team mate, David Villa, scored his fourth goal in as many appearances, to fire the Spanish in the quarter finals. David Silva is set to join Manchester City on a four year deal, claimed the English Club on Wednesday.

Speculations have been on the true value of the deal, with Spanish media claiming that the deal was worth approximately 32 million Euros. This is just a speculation, however, and no official statement about financial details has been released by City.

David Silva is a speedy left footed winger, and has the ability to disrupt any defence. He has learnt a lot from his six years in Valencia, and more importantly from his partnership with David Villa. He claimed that he would thank Valencia, its fans and training staff. He thanked them for discovering him as footballer, and polishing his raw talent. He added that the time was right for him to move on to bigger challenges, and relishes the fact to be able to play in the Premier League. He vowed to bring much success and silver ware to his new employers. He added that at the moment he would like to concentrate on Spain in the World Cup, and added that his advisors have been dealing with City. He would love nothing more than to win the World Cup for his country.

Manchester City finished 5th in the league, due to the efforts of Coach Roberto Mancini. It had been a roller coaster ride for the citizens, as they drew most of their matches under Mark Hughes. Hughes, however, was sacked following his inability to produce results after going on a spending spree in the transfer market. He was replaced by Mancini, and from there on, City looked deadly, and defeated English Champion Chelsea in both fixtures. They reached the semi final of the Carling Cup, only to be eliminated by rivals Manchester United. Mancini vowed to come back stronger, and claimed that his team would be a strong contender for the Premier League trophy next season.

Valencia has dreadful financial issues, and have already been forced to sell Villa to Barcelona, for 40 Million Euros. City has made a name for themselves to be huge spenders, following its takeover by the Sheikhs. In last year transfer market, City spent approximate 500 Million pounds, on wages and transfer fees of players like Tevez, Adebayor and Robinho,  which was only paralleled by big guns Real Madrid. They would have paid a handsome amount for their starlet, and would welcome this cash to ease the debt burden. Valencia have been forced to sell their key players, despite winning a spot in the Champions league, owing to a 500 Million debt. Their new stadium is half built, and the current one is yet to be sold. Juan Mata is another high profile player Valencia may well have to say good bye to. He has already been linked to Barcelona, and Valencia will be expecting the Catalans giants to pay a handsome amount for his services.

"I believe the Premier League is one of the best competitions in the world and I want to bring success to City and win trophies for them,” the Spanish Winger said.

Manchester City coach, Roberto Mancini is excited about this young prospect, and confesses that he had monitored Silva for a while now. He considers him to be one of the best midfielders in Europe, and may well prove to be an important player for Manchester City. He expects David Silva to make a huge name for himself in City. By adding such a name, Mancini claimed that they are proving to other clubs that quality players play in City, and would be strong contenders for the coveted premier league title. Star players will automatically be attracted to the club, and would want to create history. He wished his young superstar best of luck in his World Cup campaign and added that he can’t wait to see him dressed in City’s colours.

“I am very excited about seeing him play for Manchester City”, Roberto Mancini exuberantly claimed and expect a bright future from him at the club.
