Manchester City midfielder and Spanish international, David Silva has gone on to state that Manchester City can go on and win the Champions League this season. The midfielder has made these comments, despite this being the first time Manchester City have
ever played in the European completion.
City are currently a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League and have only dropped two points so far in their domestic competitions. As a result, they have gone on to become the favourites to win the league at the end of the current season.
However, Silva believes City have the potential to win the Champions league as well. The player believes it is now only a matter of taking their domestic form onto the European level and showing the rest of the world, just what City are capable of doing
on the pitch.
When talking about Manchester City and their Champions League hopes and ambitions, Silva is quoted to have said: "The Champions League is where we want to be and the level we are aiming for.”
"Now that we have arrived, it is time to enjoy ourselves, make the most of it and show everyone what we can do.
"Last season was key for us. We won our first trophy for 35 years and qualified for the Champions League, claiming a place amongst the best teams in Europe.
"We need to improve upon what we have achieved already and keep progressing as a team.
"We must finish in the top four in the Premier League and secure Champions League football every season.”
It seems like Silva, along with the rest of the City squad are currently over flowing with confidence and give the way they have been performing, it would be wrong not to do so.
So far this season, Silva has gone on to break out of his shell and really put his foot on the pedal. His performances from the centre of the pitch have been phenomenal and he is already being regarded as one of the best, if not the best player in the Premier
League at the season. As a result, he is an early favourite to take home the Barclays Premier League player of the season award, at the end of the season.
However, should the midfielder be able to take his form with him into City’s Champions League games, then he would almost guarantee the team getting an upper hand over their opponents, as they look to march all the way to the finals of the tournament.
