David Silva out, Rafael Van Der Vaart in? Gameweek 11 Top Picks – Fantasy Premier League
After looking at the two goal keepers that Fantasy Premier League managers should be considering for the weekend’s action of Barclay’s Premier League football, it is time to look at one more defender and then move onto the midfield.
Defenders (continued)
Kyle Walker – Tottenham Hotspur
Gareth Bale was almost on everyone’s team when he was classified as a defender, yet with him now in the ‘midfield’ department the burden of responsibility seems to have been passed on to Kyle Walker, who has not disappointed.
Since scoring his first goal in the North London derby against Arsenal, Walker has found himself being slightly inconsistent when it comes to earning points. However, with his attacking mentality set to go up against Fulham on the weekend, it seems likely
that the Spurs right-back may enjoy a field day with his devastating pace.
Midfielders
Juan Mata – Chelsea
The middle of the park is an important area for managers in the real world as well as those plying their trade in the Fantasy Premier League. One player who has been a revelation since his first match for Chelsea is former Valencia playmaker, Juan Mata.
While his sublime performances have not translated in the number of points one would expect, Mata has been the only bright spark in what has been a stale Chelsea side during the past few weeks.
It the Blues create something good, then one can be near certain that Mata will have a hand in it.
Rafael Van Der Vaart – Tottenham Hotspur
The term, ‘On fire’ does not begin to describe the type of form the Dutch playmaker is in at the moment. With 35 points in his past three matches to his name, Rafael is in the Fantasy Premier League form of his life.
His value has already jumped up to 10.4-million, though with David Silva a doubt for the weekend and with his side, Manchester City, having plenty of strength in depth, it may be time to give Silva a rest and test out his Dutch counterpart.
In fact, both players are currently priced equally at the moment, so it is a matter of personal preference. We are planning to sit on the safe side of the fence on this one and are opting to pick the Spurs playmaker in our side.
Charlie Adam – Liverpool
Steven Gerrard is a doubt for Liverpool’s match against Swansea at Anfield, as the skipper is still recovering from an infection. This means that former Blackpool captain, Charlie Adam is a sure shot to start this weekend’s fixture.
Couple that with his fairly consistent form and the fact that almost every dead ball situation is handed over to the talented left footer and choosing Adam is a simple decision if one is looking for a midfielder who does not cost an arm and a leg.
Yohan Cabaye – Newcastle United (Wildcard)
A huge risk, yet one that might just pay off, is Newcastle United’s midfielder, Yohan Cabaye. He has been finding the back of the net a fair number of times these past few games.
Seeing how Newcastle have been playing, it may not be a bad time to try and test the jordie waters so to speak.
