David Silva says Manchester City are improving everyday
Manchester City midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Silva-c10602 has claimed that the team is getting better with time. Silva’s comments come in the wake of Manchester City’s 1-0 victory over Wigan Athetic on Saturday, 5th March.
With the win, the Sky Blues moved to within seven points of leaders Manchester United, keeping alive their slender hopes of lifting their first Premier League trophy in more than 50 years. Many believe that the title is now beyond them however, midfielder
David Silva insists that City could still pull it off.
Silva believes that the squad is improving with each passing day. The Spaniard said, “There is a lot more to come. It is difficult because it has been a lot of people's first season here. It is hard to gel and come together as a unit in that short space
of time.”
He added that the team was improving and would get better with every game they played.
Manchester City are currently gearing up for their Europa League round-of-16 clash against Dynamo Kiev, as well as the crucial FA Cup quarter-final tie against Reading. Victory against Reading would send City into the FA Cup semi-final stages for the first
time in 30 years. However, Silva is hoping to go all the way.
Speaking on the club’s chances of winning silverware this year, the Spanish international said, “Let's hope we can get both (the FA Cup and Europa League crowns). We are in a good league position now and still alive in the two cup competitions. Let's hope
we can keep doing this and stay in the top four and at least guarantee the Champions League next season.”
Manchester City were beaten to the final Champions League spot by Tottenham Hotspur last season, who defeated the Sky Blues at home to clinch fourth position in the Barclays Premier League table. However, City are the favourites to qualify for the tournament
this time, with Spurs currently five points behind them.
Manchester City are currently third in the Barclays Premier League standings, with a total of 53 points from 29 matches played.
