David Silva taking his time to adapt to the Premier League

Newly signed 24 million pound winger, David Silva has confessed that it is taking him longer than expected to get used to the Premier League style of football.
Silva joined Manchester City as a part of a big money signing from Valencia this season. Silva has made only three off the bench appearances this season and has looked off colour for the amount of money invested in him. It seems Silva would take due time to adapt to the English style of play. Silva was part of Spain’s World Cup winning campaign in the summer and thus returned later than usual to his new club.
Call it lack of pre-season experience or difficulty to adapt from the Spanish league, Silva has been anything but impressive in the opening proceedings of the Premier League this season.  His meek physical frame would need to get accustomed to the extremely physical style of play in the English league. In the opening 4 Premier League games, Silva has played only 16 minutes of football.
However, Silva was part of the starting XI of City’s Europa league’s two legged qualifier against FC Timisoara, but was nothing near to his true talent that led Roberto Mancini pay over the odds for the player’s services. Reports from the Spanish media have claimed that Silva is perhaps missing his home country and may want to return. That rumour has been slammed by the player time and time again, yet he confesses that adjusting to the new life has been slower than expected.
"I am getting there, just more slowly than I would have liked", he told the club's official website. "It's not just about playing games, it's about getting more training sessions under your belt - something I have been able to do more of lately", claimed the 24-year old winger.
The player was impressive with his national side in the Euro 2008, where he scored 3 important goals in the tournament. His cameo appearances for the national side in the World Cup, and his 9 goals in 40 appearances for the national side, are evidence of his potential. For his former club, Valencia, Silva was instrumental. In his 155 match career, Silva has scored 30 times but has made over 50 assists for his team. Silva was a healthy contributor for his club and at such a young age, had established himself as a first team choice.
Manchester City would be expecting nothing but the best for him owing to the huge price tag they paid for him. However, owing to the emergence of in-form Adam Johnson, Silva’s position in the club’s first has been compromised. Johnson has been phenomenal for club and country and is one of the most exciting wingers in the UK. Silva would have to up his game and get back in the Premier League in order to fulfil his personal goals which made him sign for the high spending club.
Manchester City travel to Wigan in Premier League next and would be looking to bounce back from their shock draw at home to Blackburn Rovers.
