Manchester City midfielder and Argentine talisman, David Silva has gone on to reveal that he wants City to come out on top against Villarreal in their Champions League encounter later on tonight.
City are currently sitting third in their group, after the team went on to draw their opening game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003, followed by a defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in their second match.
As a result, the team is sitting in a very unfavourable position and desperately need the three points to assure their progress to the knock out stages of the tournament. At the same time, Silva believes that dropping points in the game would be like suicide
and could cause the team to be knocked out of the tournament at a very early stage.
When talking about the upcoming game against his Spanish opponents, Silva is quoted to have said: “This is a very important game for us – we need to get the three points or we will start to lose touch with the leading teams. It’s a tough group but we are
good enough to progress to the knock-out stages,” he told the club’s official website.”
The midfielder then went on to admit that the problem that City were facing was their lack of experience in European games and that was perhaps the prime reason for them not managing to take their Premier League form into the tournament.
“In the Premier League we have got a lot of games under our belt and are playing really well – maybe we need to play more Champions League games before we adapt to the competition.
“Villarreal are a great side that pass the ball around and break very quickly – we will need to be on our guard or they will punish us.”
Despite Silva’s concerns going into the game tonight, almost every single expert around the world believes City are going to finish out on top against Villarreal. The Spanish side aren’t performing exceptionally well in their domestic league, while City
are currently on top of the Premier League table.
