David Smith all set to make his way back into Western Force - Super Rugby news
David Smith, who made a two-year deal with French club Toulon, is ready to make a come back to his Super Rugby team Western Force in 2014. Smith revealed his informal deal with the derby today on May 26th and said that he has taken Coach Richard
Graham into confidence in this regard. His recent contract with Western Force will come to an end with the conclusion of ongoing Super Rugby season.
Smith signed with Western Force this year for one season and decided to leave the struggling derby at the end of the season. The Force has won just three games in the tournament so far and has been placed 12th on the points table.
Earlier, Smith had played 41 Super Rugby games for Hurricanes and Blues. He started off his Super Rugby career with Hurricanes in 2007 and then shifted to the Blues for just seven games. Smith remained impressive in the ten games he played in this season
for the Force. He contributed two tries in their upset win against the ACT Brumbies in their ninth match.
Talking to the reporters in the morning, Smith said that Force team is like his family and he will be among them after being absent for two seasons. He further said that, "I've already had a chat with Richard so after two years I'm definitely coming back
and having another season at the Force in 2014. That's the plan. And hopefully after two years I'll come back more experienced and join in here again."
Force coach Richard Graham confirmed the news of Smith’s departure and said he is going for two years but we are sure of his return after the tenure. He added, “As our marquee player David was only able to sign for one year at a time and he was upfront with
us that there was a longer term opportunity for him in Toulon. We’re genuinely disappointed that he is leaving but certainly thank him for his efforts.”
David Smith also expressed his hopes to play international rugby preferably for the All Blacks or Australia.
