I think that "The Catch" from Joe Montana to Dwight Clark was more important... it announced the arrival of an organization that would go on to win 5 Super Bowls and signaled the end of an era in Dallas Cowboy football.

Taking nothing away from Tyree, it WAS a great catch, but it wasn't the greatest catch ever. Franco Harris did that. I saw it when it happened. It was UNbelievable!

No.  Just a lucky grab.  Nothing more.  Did it happen at a great time?  Yes, but it was only luck that he caught it.

I don't  think it was anymore impressive than "First-down Freddie's 4th & 26" which led the Eagles to a victory in overtime and eventually the Super Bowl.

It was a luck shot and that's all it will ever be, it certainly doesn't deserve a book about it.

It's up there, its clutch. I think overall it's one of the top 10 plays in NFL history. Joe Montana to Dwight Clark's The Catch is probably number 1. Steve Young to Terrell Owens for Catch 2 is also good...common denominator, game winning touchdowns. The David Tyree was just an amazing catch, and yes did help win the game.

But if you're looking for pure athleticism and just holding on to the rock, ya, David Tyree displayed the greatest defiance of physics.
