David Vaughan says team-mate Charlie Adam should have been Blackpool Player of the Season
Blackpool midfielder, David Vaughan, has revealed that fellow midfielder, Charlie Adam, deserved to be the Tangerines Player of the Season. Vaughan flew away with the award leaving behind his club captain and received praises from his manager Ian Holloway
and team-mate Keith Southern.
Adam was earlier nominated as one of the best players in this season’s Premier League by the Football Writers’ association but failed to win the votes of his team-mates who instead went with Vaughan.
Adam has been prolific in the midfield this season and has certainly risen to the occasion. His outstanding form has already attracted a lot of interest from a few big clubs like Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. It is also believed that the 25-year-old could
be on his way out of Bloomfield Road come the end of the season.
Southern admired the consistency and commitment that Vaughan has shown and in spite of a slight niggle the midfielder has always been present for his team’s cause. He further added, “He’s a fantastic little footballer. You look at him and there’s nothing
of him, but he’s as tough as old boots. He puts his foot in, but he’s got a lot of class on the ball as well and a wonderful left foot. It’s a privilege to play with him and Charlie. I’d say Charlie is our best player. But, without wishing to sound harsh,
he won’t get player of the year from the lads. David will.”
Vaughan joined the Seasiders in 2008 and saw his team through to the Championship into the Premier League. Since landing at Bloomfield Road, David has emerged 101 times for the club so far and has four goals under his belt.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 international is currently suffering from a slight hip injury but the midfielder has confirmed that he’ll fight his injury and play in order to save his team from being relegated.
The Welshman’s quality was clearly evident from the fact that Blackpool managed to finish level against Newcastle United when both sides met on April 23. Holloway responded to Vaughan’s return by mentioning, “The difference between this week’s performance
and last week’s showed how important David is to us.”
Blackpool are currently 17th in the League table with 34 points and only above 18th placed Wigan Athletic on goal difference. With four games remaining in the season, both Holloway and Vaughan would love to see their side maintain their
Premier League tag.
