David Verraszto claims Men’s 400m IM gold – Swimming News
David Verraszto of Hungary claimed gold medal of the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on the second day of the 2013 Sette Colli Trophy Meet in Rome, Italy on Friday, June 14.
The Hungarian swimmers continued their unravelling efforts in the playoff of the 400m IM and added another title to their medal tally. Verraszto experienced strong resistance from his opponents in the first half of the eight-lap
discipline but with his alluring efforts in the final 200 metres of the race, he succeeded in outperforming them over the finishing end for the title.
With his notable form in the race, he remained in a prominent lead over his supporters and tapped the wall for gold medal with an effort of 4 minutes and 12.32 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Federico Turrini of Italy, who was 3.53 seconds away from his former finisher and secured silver medal by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 15.85 seconds.
The champion was chased by Laszlo Cseh of Hungary, who was also three body lengths behind and touched the wall for bronze medal with the timing of 4 minutes and 18.88 seconds.
Subsequently, the arena saw ruthless efforts of Luca Marin of Italy in the 400m discipline. Marin tried hard to upset Cseh for third place but remained only a few microseconds away from him. He was only 0.11 seconds slower from
his foregoing finisher on the finishing wall and settled as fourth best finisher with the timing of 4 minutes and 18.99 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Claudio Fossi, who was almost five seconds slower from Marin and settled on the finishing end by touching the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 24.42 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Simon Sjodin of Sweden, who was 0.14 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and tapped the finishing wall by clocking an effort of 4 minutes and 24.56 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the race was secured by Simone Geni, who was 2.11 seconds slower from his preceding finisher and emerged on the finishing end by posting an effort of 4 minutes and 26.67 seconds.
Last position of the race was obtained by Luca Mauri, who was considerably slower and ended his race in a time of 4 minutes and 31.77 seconds.
In addition, Verraszto expressed happiness over his efforts and received medal after the race.
