David Villa aint no quitter
David Villa was born in Spain in a small village. Since his childhood, he was attracted to the sport of football. Although he suffered severe injuries on his right leg, he did not let go of his passion of reigning the world of football. After recovering from the injuries, he started playing football in his home and streets. Villas father acted as his mentor, and supported him to his fullest. This made him confident of his play and he joined the football team in his school. In the beginning of his football career in school, he wasn’t greatly encouraged by his fellows. This disheartened him and at that time, it seemed impossible to him to rise to fame in international football.
But Villa kept on struggling. In the early years of his life, he used to play in the streets, but soon his father paved his path for him. David’s continuous efforts led him to play for UP Langreo, before he played for any international club.
The start had been hard on the keen footballer, as he faced rejection from the clubs. But his efforts brought him the reward and he got the chance of playing for Sporting de Gijon. Villa had a tough time proving himself initially, but no-quitter tried even harder and proved himself a worthy player. During his two seasons in Sporting, he scored 25 goals. This brought him in the spot-light and his presence was instantly noticed by other clubs.
After showing his skills in Sporting, he entered a €3 million contract with Real Zaragoza. This was a great break-through for him, and Villa desperately tried to improve his game. David was successful in showing his skills and his unique playing techniques to the manager. He led his team to win the Copa del Rey finals as he scored a goal against Real Madrid. He was loved by the fans, as they regarded Villa as an integral part of the team.
Soon after, another opportunity knocked at the player’s door. The lucrative deal of Valencia in 2005-2006, which gave the newly-born superstar €12 million. Villa stayed in the club for the next four seasons, giving impressive performances and making his name in the top players of the world. Owing to his skills, he stood 9th best player in the ranking of the FIFA Awards 2008. During his time in Valencia, he played some great games. His most sensational battles were against Barcelona and Real Madrid, where he scored the most crucial goals that led his team to victory.
In his 2007-08 season at Valencia, he scored total of 18 goals including the great victory over Schalke 04 and first-leg against Chelsea. He then signed a six year contract with Valencia, securing his place in the club till 2014.
After his astounding performance in World Cup 2010, where he was the key-player for Spain and gave his team breakthroughs in almost every game, he was nominated as the FIFA player of the year. He was the eye-candy for every Spanish and English club, who wanted to have him on the team.
When Villa declared that he wanted to join either of the best clubs in La Liga; Real Madrid and Barcelona both put forward their deals. Real Madrid was unable to offer him a better compensation and hence, the football icon moved on to the Barcelona, by signing a contract of €40 million. This is thought to be one of the crucial transfers, as Barcelona’s side is much stronger now. Now the rivals, Real Madrid, are concerned about filling up the team with players that equal his calibre. His contract with Barcelona is valid for four years. Recently, Villa presented his Barcelona kit for the season 2010-11. It is expected that David will prove to be an asset for the team and help it in grabbing the title.
