David Villa backs Fernando Torres’ Chelsea move
Barcelona striker David Villa has backed fellow http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 team-mate Fernando Torres’ move to Chelsea. Villa has claimed that Torres will ultimately find success with the reigning English Champions.
Fernando Torres left Liverpool to move to Stamford Bridge on the final day of the January transfer window. The Blues reportedly paid 50 million pounds for the striker’s services.
Torres has been criticised from all sides for his perceived mercenary tactics, but the Spaniard says that his move was motivated not by greed, but by the promise of glory. The former Atletico Madrid man believes he has more of a chance of winning trophies
with Chelsea than he did with Liverpool, and Spanish compatriot http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629 believes that to be true.
Speaking on Torres’ decision to leave Anfield, Villa said , “Liverpool are not enjoying a good year. I am totally convinced that his (Torres’) move to Chelsea will go well and he will succeed in London.”
The 50 million pound hitman endured a terrible debut for the Blues, leading to his substitution after just 65 minutes on the pitch. However, Villa believes that Torres’ transfer will ultimately prove fruitful, saying, “It's been very difficult for him (Torres),
but I'm pleased because I know he wanted to go there. He is very happy and I wish him well.”
The Barcelona man went on to add that Liverpool will need to shore up their attack to fill the void left by the departure of Fernando Torres. He sees new arrivals Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez as the perfect replacements.
Villa said, “http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 needed to reinforce after the sale of Fernando. They (Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez) are two great players who are worth every penny.”
Chelsea are currently sitting in fourth place Barclays Premier League, with Liverpool hot on their heels in sixth position. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 go up against Fulham on 14 February.
