David Villa insists goals at Barcelona will come
Barcelona striker David Villa has said he is happy with his team's performance against Valencia, while adding that he is eager to start scoring for the Catalans.
Valencia arrived at the Camp Nou as league leaders on Saturday, 16 October, and shocked Barcelona by opening the scoring through Pablo Hernandez at the end of the first half.
But the defending champions were able to fight back to earn the victory, as goals from Andres Iniesta and Carlos Puyol saw them defeat the visitors 2–1.
"They are the best team in the league so far," Villa told Spanish daily
AS about his team's performance against Valencia. "They played really well. They were very serious and well-organised, and we had a very complicated game. The most important thing is that we beat the leaders, and we reacted in the best possible way
by winning points at home."
Villa's team are now second in the league with 16 points, one behind leaders Real Madrid, who have played one more game.
Keen to start scoring
The Spanish star has scored four goals in nine appearances this season, but only two of his strikes have come in La Liga.
As Pep Guardiola signed Villa for his outstanding goalscoring ability, pressure has been mounting on the former Valencia player, who insisted that his goals will start coming more frequently.
"In football, players go on streaks, and I am waiting for the day when my luck will change and I can get goals for Barcelona. It’s normal. People expect me to score goals, and that feeling is special for
any player. It is clear to me that without anxiety I would not have achieved all the goals that brought me to the Camp Nou from Valencia."
Despite his patience when talking to the press, Villa, who has scored 22 goals in his 47 European appearances to date, will want to be among the goals when Barcelona face FC Copenhagen in the Champions
League on Wednesday, 20 October.
