El Guaje on the other hand has differing views. Responding to questions in a recent press conference, the Spaniard revealed that he is happy at the good omens shown by his national team colleagues but claimed that he will not be missed in Poland and Ukraine.
Continuing on the topic, Villa gave his support to Torres who he believes can light up the European Championship with his electrifying displays.
"One is always happy that people regret their absence, but Spain will not miss me," he said while talking to reporters.
"There are great goal-poachers on the team and any player can score. I have a great affection for Fernando Torres and I think he is in great form after what he undeservedly went through."
Responding to questions about his pulling out of the competition, Villa revealed that he worked hard until the very end to make himself available but had to take the difficult decision in favour of the whole team as he was not in the perfect state to compete.
He added that he did not feel in the best of physical conditions and had no other option to take than pulling out.
"But when there were a few days left for the announcement of the squad, I told him [Del Bosque] that I was not at a level good enough to compete, that I was not in the shape for the national team, and that I would not be at my best.”
