David Wachman expecting goods from Aloof
Trainer David Wachman is expecting his trainee, Aloof, to do a lot of wonders this season. After a long vacation, the 3-year-old resumed her journey with a fantastic performance at Dundalk last month.
Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 3yo Fillies Race saw her seizing the top rank by 4¾ lengths. The filly registered her first success in November last year, when she outpaced her opponents in the Christmas Parties At Dundalk 2yo Race. With two
wonderful wins under her belt, she is full of spirit at the moment.
The dashing filly has many major entries in her pocket, but her first assignment will be to do well in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Blue Wind Stakes at Naas on Wednesday, May 16th. The Group 3 event has attracted many powerful
runners, but David Wachman is anticipating his trainee to set the standards.
"It's all about trying to get some black type with these fillies. She'd been crying out for a trip, so I wasn't surprised she stayed 11 furlongs the last day, even though she's out of Airwave. I've been happy with her since and we'll know an awful lot more
about her after this," said Wachman.
On the other hand, John Oxx is confident about Shebella’s chances at Naas. The 3-year-old was triumphant in her only start at Limerick in March this year. Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 3yo Fillies Maiden saw her beating Ahaaly by a neck’s distance
to seize the top place.
John Oxx is delighted with the way Shebella began her journey at Limerick and wants her to be good in today’s 1m2f meeting, getting underway at 19:20 GMT.
"She did well to win over seven furlongs, but she's bred to stay 10 furlongs. We started her off over that trip because she'd shown us plenty of speed at home, so we'll try her over further and see what happens,” the trainer stated.
The €50,375 event has attracted half a dozen entries. Was, who is returning to action following a long layoff, is currently leading the betting card. However, both Shebella and Aloof are in good shape to upset the favourite.
