inexperience as a reason.
Former Australian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377’s appointment, asking why Warner was not considered for the job. He asked why Warner could not captain the side if he was serving as vice-captain, and if he was unable to do so as
yet, then why was he appointed the vice-captain in the first place.
However, the flamboyant left-hander, who is deputizing for the original vice-captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 (who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury), has backed John Inverarity’s decision, saying he is happy the board did not give him additional responsibility,
and respects their decision. “I'm still learning the one-day game,” he admitted.
Since making his ODI debut in 2009, The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 batsman has played in only a handful of ODIs, averaging a meagre 20.21. His performances in the ongoing Commonwealth Bank series have been poor, with a best of 34 so far.
"I've not had a great start to the one-day series and I'm looking to put numbers on the board,” the 25-year old said. “The selectors have noted they don't want to put any extra pressure on myself, and I felt the same thing and agreed with what they had to
say.”
He further added that he was eager to gain as much experience as possible, and having benefitted from Clarke’s captaincy, he was keen to play under Ponting’s experienced leadership.
"(...) He's led the country for many years and I'm looking forward to being his vice [captain],” he said, referring to the former skipper.
Warner has been opening for Australia during the current tri-series ODIs, and while he has not managed to rack up any impressive scores, he has another chance to add to his numbers on February 17, as the national team faces Sri Lanka at the Sydney Cricket
Ground for the 6th match of the series.
