David Warner looking to remove the tag of a limited-overs specialist
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s limited-overs specialist, David Warner, is now looking to strengthen his case for Test selection and feels that he has the temperament to excel in the longer version of the game as well.
Warner recently returned back to Australia after a successful season as a batsman in the Indian Premier League (IPL) representing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils, but his team failed to make an impression in this year’s tournament.
Australian selectors have started to show faith in the left hander’s ability as they have picked him for all three formats of the game for Australia's tour of Zimbabwe, later this year.
Although, the left hander does not have much experience of first-class cricket, he has impressed in last season’s Sheffield Shield matches.
Warner has expressed excitement on his selection for the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 and wants to prove his worth on that tour as a compact top order batsman in the longer version of the game.
Warner said, ''I'm happy to be acknowledged for the last couple of games I played in the Shield season. It's recognition for myself that they're actually looking at me as a Test player''.
The left hander has played seven One Day Internationals for his country but failed to impress in that format.
However, Warner has been good in the T20 format where he has scored four half-centuries in 25 international matches, not a bad effort by any means.
Warner added that he has enough patience and temperament to be successful in first-class cricket or Test matches because he can occupy the crease for long hours.
He emphasized on the fact that a player has to prove his ability by performing and wants his runs to speak for his ability.
''I can last the distance, and mentally I can be patient enough to tackle that format of the game. It's good I scored runs and showed some people. Everyone is about stats and numbers, and if you don't prove it you're never going to be that. It's good I can
face 80 balls for 60 or 70 and not just try and score 100 off 50 balls'', he added.
