David Warner modelling his batting on Adam Gilchrist
Australian opening batsman David Warner has said that he is keen to bat as well as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. Warner, who is a part of the Australian squad for the three-match
ODI series in India is one of the more aggressive limited overs-batsmen. While he has firmly established himself in the T20I format of the game, he hasn’t yet got going in the ODIs.

Speaking to the media in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, Warner said that he had modelled his batting on the former left-handed Australian opener Gilchrist.

"I see myself as similar to Adam Gilchrist, more of an X-factor player, where I go out there and try to mimic his role as he played. He was aggressive, he might've come off one in five innings as well,
but he changed the course of the game,”

However, if Warner wants to get close to Gilchrist in terms of the efficacy, he has a long way to go. Apart from scoring the runs quickly, the one thing that Gilchrist also did was to score much more consistently
than what Warner does currently. Gilchrist had averaged 36 with the bat in the ODIs and possessed a strike-rate of 97 whilst doing that.

Warner’s issue has been his inability to pace his innings in the ODIs, which is much longer than the T20Is.
"I felt that I had to keep going the same pace and one tempo, and that's where I reckon I've matured now and I've learned to adapt. There were little things there where I wasn't in the right position,
so that's the thing that was out, but if I go back into the same situation I'm going to do the same thing because it was there to hit,”

The issue for Warner, however, is that he will be fighting for a place in the Australian squad for World Cup against the likes of Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326, Tim Paine, Shaun Marsh and Brad Haddin – all of whom are opening
batsmen and much more consistent than Warner.

However, Warner has a chance to showcase his skills in India in the ODI series and try and grab an opportunity by assisting his team in winning the series. The World Cup will also be played in India next
year.
