Not long ago, when Jose Mourinho first took charge at the Blue and Black half of Milan, a young prodigy dazzled the calico fans. Playing with composure and skill that bellied his tender years, the 18-year-old Davide Santon must have made most Azzurri fans
very happy indeed; their left-back woes for the foreseeable future were over.
However, much to the disappointment of the player and the fans, he was soon sidelined and restricted to substiture appearances. Injuries did not help his cause either and the once promising attacking fullback spent a good portion of the next two years on
the bench.

In the closing days of the 2011 summer transfer window, the player completed a surprise loan move to English Premier League outfit, Newcastle United, despite being heavily linked to AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 throughout the summer.
“I was very close to joining Roma and they were the only Italian club I’d have accepted with enthusiasm, because the new management gives space to young players
“Roma enquired after me several times, proposing a loan deal, as did Newcastle. With three days of the transfer session left, the British club made the right proposal to Inter.” Santon told the Corriere dello Sport.
The player was visibly glad at having completed the move:
“I was very glad, as otherwise I risked staying at San Siro and sitting in the stands for the whole season.
“It was over at Inter. My adventure had concluded and I would not have had the opportunity to prove myself again.”
Italians have traditionally suffered in the Premier League and only time will tell how well Santon adapts to his new surroundings.
