Swansea City defender, Ben Davies, vowed to grab with both hands the opportunity awarded to him by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup in the starting line-up and wants to cement his place in the team.
The Welsh outfit were hit by a setback early on in the season, as veteran Neil Taylor sustained a horrific ankle injury to get ruled out for the remainder of the term.
Consequently, the boss at the Liberty Stadium, Laudrup, was forced into taking contingency measures, signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dwight-Tiendalli-c11774 on the Bosman ruling in order to make up for Taylor’s truancy.
However, it’s the 19-year old rookie who has taken the lead into filling in Taylor’s shoes.
The Welsh footballer impressed his manager with his performances in the last couple of games, also winning the plaudits from team-mate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Tate.
Even though the left-back had only tasted six minutes of top flight football before Taylor’s injury, he has shown no signs of nerves in his 3 appearances for the Swans ever since.
After being awarded the opportunity by his manager, Davies revealed that he was desperate to vindicate the Dane’s decision.
He vowed to work harder than ever to help his side deal with their current injury woes, and feels that the pressure of playing for a place in the team will help him become a stronger player mentally in the long run.
“I got the chance to play a game and Michael Laudrup must have thought I did well to keep playing me,” he told the reporters.
“But as a young player all I’ve got to do is work as hard as I can and do my best in the game.”
“And I’ve got to keep enjoying what’s happening because I don’t know when I might get a chance like this again.”
“I never thought things would happen like this, but it’s probably the best way because I’ve got to take it in my stride.”
Swansea have been guilty of conceding too many goals lately, a factor which has impeded their startling start to the campaign. In their last four league games, they have shipped eight goals in total.
Nonetheless, Davies was confident that his team will be able to arrest their poor form and also stated that things would change once the injured players make their return.
