Davis, CA to El Dorado Hills, CA transportation? Light Rail? Bus?

I have a friend who is going to UC Davis but lives in El Dorado Hills, CA. Does anyone have suggestions on transportation to and from? He has a bike and will bike in Davis once he gets there. I'm wondering if there is a bus in El Dorado that will take him to ligth rail or something like that?

well El dorado does have commuter service into SaCramento

but then your friend would have to connect to a Yolo bus

for the ride to UC Davis
