Davis Cup Final Analysis: Spain vs Argentina (Part-II)
Argentine team that will feature in the Davis Cup final tie will consist of:
World No.11, Juan Martin Del Potro
Del Potro had a very successful season so far and he would love to turn the tables over the Spanish rivals in the Davis Cup final tie to upset the whole world. He has two names to his title that were won in Portugal and Delray
Beach this year. He would like to take his team to the maiden Davis Cup triumph in December.
World No.26, Juan Monaco
Juan Monaco had a mixed season this year with a 31-26 record and zero titles. He needs to help his compatriot Del Potro in order to pull up a major upset and flabbergast the Spanish crowd with the first Davis Cup title win for
Argentina.
World No.29, Juan Ignacio Chela
Chela has been very prolific this year and has impressed with his stunning performances but was unlucky to clinch any title. He needs to keep up the good work and carry his winning form into the Davis Cup final tie to help his
country with a title conquest.
World No.64, David Nalbandian
David Nalbandian has not played a lot of tennis this year but his comeback to the team will definitely boost their morale. He maintains a 22-12 record this year and needs to put up his best show in order to help his team mates
to a collective title victory at Davis Cup.
Spain’s performance in the 2011 Davis Cup
Spain’s journey to final of Davis Cup started with the triumph against Belgians that was lead by the Spanish No.1, Rafael Nadal. Then they knocked-out the American team in their second meeting. David Ferrer was the standout performer
in that tie and if it was not for his performance, Spain would not have reached this stage.
The third country that faced the defeat at the hands of Spanish superstars was France. French squad was the strongest of all but was completely overshadowed by the Spanish tennis icons. Spain relatively had tougher competitors
throughout the tournament and having passed all those severe tests, Argentina should not be a very difficult task for them.
Argentina’s performance in the 2011 Davis Cup
Argentina on the other hand was also very consistent with their performance throughout the tournament and with the return of David Nalbandian, there squad was much stronger compared to previous years.
Argentines smashed Romanian team in the first round and then overpowered the team of Kazakhstan in the second round. Both these ties were relatively simpler for them and easily cruised into the third round. They faced severe resistance
at the hands of Serbian tennis stars and Del Potro’s outstanding performance against World No.1, Novak Djokovic saved them the spot in the finals of the tournament.
Olympic Stadium in Seville
The final showdown will take place on clay surface tennis courts of Olympic Stadium in Seville. Spanish tennis stars are fond of playing better tennis on clay courts and considering the fact that they will be playing at home, they
will definitely have a slight edge over their competitors. Argentines are also considered to the best clay court performers but considering the fact that Spanish players will be playing at home, they definitely has an edge over their rivals.
