Davis Love III and Jim Furyk continue to shine at Seaside Course
It seems that US Ryder Cuppers have found a way to get over their loss in the Ryder Cup. That is play golf, golf and more golf.
Since the Ryder Cup ended, Davis Love III had three starts and interestingly, he has shown no signs of disappointment.
At the McGladrey Classic, Davis Love III shot two excellent rounds and he is right in contention for the title.
Love shot four-under 66, to trail the tournament by just a stroke. After 36 holes, the field was being led by Arjun Atwal of India, who himself is in a desperate situation.
The Indian needs to finish at least inside the top-three to have any chances of playing on the PGA tour next season. He stands at the 175th spot in the rankings and only a top-three finish can take him to under 125.
On the other hand, Davis Love III and Jim Furyk are searching for their first win on the tour this season. Two good rounds by the veterans have really boosted their chances of winning the McGladrey Classic.
Furyk shot an excellent five-under 65 to finish T2 with Davis Love III. Things are really working for the American duo at the Seaside course.
"I have been messing around with this putter for well over a year, I just have not had the nerve to put it in play," Love said.
The momentum is on their side, as they look to turn up the heat over the weekend. They sit pretty comfortably after two rounds. All seems to be in their hands so far.
If they shoot two more rounds like these, then they have a big chance.
"I felt a little rusty on the way in," Furyk said. "I have a lot of confidence in my ball striking right now, but when you do not play a lot, sometimes it's the course management, making the good decisions”.
"And so far that's all kind of coming back to me slowly and I have kind of gained momentum as the last two rounds have gone on," he added.
The overnight leader, Bud Cauley and Marco Dawson faded a little on Friday. Bud is still in contention but Marco shot a poor round of 75 and is seven shots adrift of the leader, Arjun.
