Davis Love III and Jim Furyk lead McGladrey Classic after round 3
It seems that for Jim Furyk and Davis Love III, the Ryder Cup is no longer a memory to be bothered about.
It looks as if the two senior pros are now over with the disappointment of the Ryder Cup. The duo displayed some excellent golfing skills on Saturday, leading the field after the third round, at the Seaside Course.
The duo led the field at McGladrey Classic, by two strokes. Following them was D.J.Trahan.
Both, Love and Furyk, shot decent rounds of 66 to take their score to thirteen-under for the tournament.
"I'm tougher on myself -- I promise -- than anyone else is," Furyk said. "So I've kicked myself 100 times already. And I've gotten over it. I can put it behind me and move. There's nothing I can do to change it. And nothing I do in the future is going to
change it".
For Furyk, it was a steady and flawless round, which not only included four birdies but some decent shots and putts.
Love, on the other hand, had a very eventful round of 66. The US Ryder Captain shot six birdies and two bogeys on Saturday.
Davis Love III started off steadily with three consecutive pars, following a bogey on the fourth. However, he recovered quickly as he shot three birdies on the next four holes.
"People were surprised I played the three weeks after, but I'd had some time off. I was ready to play. I haven't played enough tournaments, so it's nice to be back in the swing of things," said Love.
The world number 148 had a similar sort of back nine, which included a bogey and three birdies. He struck a birdie on the last hole to ensure that he remains at the top.
It has been four years since Love last won on the PGA Tour and this could be his best chance, considering the way he is playing.
World number 23, Jim Furyk is also winless on the tour this season and this could be the best chance to secure his maiden win for the year.
