Davis Love III shoots 67 at Sedgefield
USA Ryder Cup captain, Davis love III shot a mediocre 67 as he and his team looks to gear up for the upcoming Ryder Cup. Shooting a 67 is a good score judging by the fact that Carl Pettersson shot 62 but there are around twenty players who are sitting on
67.
Wyndham Championship will not be what he is looking to win, it is  the Ryder Cup which is his main target.
Just a few days back, he announced his back door team naming the remaining vice captains. He had also hinted at his four wild card picks and shared the criteria he has set to select those four players.
He counterpart, Jose Maria Olazabal, yesterday, announced his three of his four vice captains. Things are finally heating up in terms of Ryder Cup.
Davis Love III has not had a very good season so far in the fourteen events that he has played. He has made the cut only eight times.
He has had only one top-10 finish which was T3 at FedEx St. Jude Classic. A decent show at the Wyndham will do him some good personally but his main focus is the Ryder Cup. Definitely, after all, he is the captain of the team.
Love scored a birdie on his final hole of the day to finish day one positively.
A victory at Wyndham, though it is very unlikely, will give him a better shape mentally. He will be going into the Ryder Cup more relaxed and happy because personal achievements always bring a positive change.
Meanwhile, South African Tim Clark put up a fine show on Thursday, as he shot a 63. He sits just a stroke behind the leader Carl Pettersson, along with David Mathis who also shot a 63.
The defending champion, Webb Simpson is five shots adrift of the leader but he is finally getting back into his stride. Webb missed the cut at Ocean Course but at Sedgefield, he seems to have found his touch.
Wyndham is the last chance for those looking to make it into the FedEx Cup playoffs. A good showing here would certainly get them some extra points.
