44-year-old Davor Suker epitomises Croatian football better than any player. the iconic player and the former striker for Real Madrid and other big European clubs is set to become the new president of the Croatian Football Federation.

So much was talk about his talent that La Liga side Seville signed him in 1991. It was at the Andalucian club where Sukur’s name started becoming house-hold. In five seasons at the club, Suker scored 76 goals.
Giants Real Madrid had seen enough of the Croatian to be convinced that the player would come good and signed him in 1996. In a short yet successful three-year stint, Suker won the La Liga, Supercopa de Espana, the UEFA Champions League and the Intercontinental

“Suker is the best solution. He was a brilliant footballer, a great goalscorer. He will fill this new role. And around the world, when talking about Croatia, people do think about Suker,” read a statement on the federation’s official site.
